As a child I grew up being very physically active. All the way through my senior year in high school, I played a variety of sports and danced. After high school, I moved away to college and disconnected with that part of my life for many years. I studied at Cal State Long Beach, then I transferred to Cal State San Marcos and graduated with a degree in Sociology in 2009. By this time I had worked as a server for 8 years. I ended up getting an office job at a corporation which was the complete opposite of serving! No longer being physically active and having a sedentary job was rough! About 4 years ago I attended my first Pilates class at Club Pilates Mira Mesa with a friend and I instantly fell in love. I finally found a form of exercise I looked forward too again! I walked away feeling a sense of balance I had never felt before and a mind body connection that I lost long ago. 2 years ago, I decided to throw myself into it and become an instructor. I love the strength, body awareness and how grounded I feel after every Pilates class. I love what I do! The best part of being an instructor is witnessing a client experience changes in their body and mind and reach new limits in strength and flexibility. Club Pilates Mira Mesa is a community I am so proud to be a part of:)
Carolyn opened Club Pilates Mira Mesa in January 2013 and 3 months later she opened Club Pilates Eastlake. Carolyn started practicing Pilates 17 years ago and fell in love with it. She had running injuries and very poor posture. Pilates fixed Carolyn’s posture and helped Carolyn with her running injuries and to become a better runner overall. Carolyn decided to open her own Club Pilates using her business background and love of Pilates to inspire and help other people to experience how Pilates changed her life. Club Pilates Mira Mesa/ Eastlake believes in giving back to the community. We offer 10% off all classes for active military and law enforcement. We have participated in Charity drives to raise money for local schools and we have contributed to CCS and ASPCA.
I am a pilates instructor, elementary school teacher and mom to 2 fabulous little girls. I have always been into fitness and exercised since I was 19 years old regularly. I used to bike and swim a lot before kids, but I liked to bike for hours at a time and I ran out of that kind if time. I mainly run and do pilates now. I still swim in the summer. I found pilates by a fluke of winning some free passes to Pilates Plus in P.B. I went to my 2 free classes and wanted to do more. That is when I found Club Pilates in Mira Mesa and I have been going ever since. I love the strengthening and balance it adds. I have definitely seen positive changes in my body and balance since I started about 3 and 1/2 years ago. I loved it so much, I wanted to become an instructor! I used to dream about working in the fitness world as it has always been so important to me and now I do and I love it! Our studio in Mira Mesa is a fabulous little community. It is great to bring fun fresh ways to keep your body working for you to people. I love it so much, my husband wanted to do it too and now he does pilates at our studio as well.
I was introduced to Pilates back in 2013 when rehabbing my then-recent knee surgery. I was able to take what I learned in physical therapy and apply it into my Pilates privates and group classes. Once I moved out to San Diego, I wanted to further my practice and went through the Teacher Training program in 2016 and was hired on as an instructor in 2017. Along the way I’ve also acquired my Trigger Point certificatation and currently getting my PSM - Pilates Suspension Method Certification later this month in April. I love Pilates because it truly is for everyBODY. Pre or post surgery, pregnancy (during and after), new to physical activity, male or female, young or old, yoga pro or newbie or your average stay at home mom (or dad!) One of my favorite things to do is standing inner thigh work and also Short spine is amazing to self practice or in a private session. I’m truly passionate about Pilates and I love to continue to deepen my practice and learn with new workshops and continuing education to always stay on my toes! I also enjoy taking classes to inspire me creatively and love to support everyone in their own physical fitness journey.
Julia has been sharing her passion for Pilates, teaching at various studio locations in San Diego since 2014. She is Club Pilates trained and also certified in TRX, Lagree Fitness, and multiple methods of Barre. Join her in class for an invigorating and fun Pilates workout experience!
I discovered Club Pilates through a purchase of a groupon. I fell in love with it and entered their teacher training program and have now been teaching for Club Pilates Mira Mesa for 5 years! Aside from Pilates, I have certifications in Barre Above, TRX and as a Personal Trainer. Before discovering Pilates I recevied my degree in Psychology from SDSU. Outside of my Pilates family I have 3 kids and together we love to camp and go hiking.
I discovered Pilates while I was earning my Bachelor’s degree in Dance from the University of Washington in Seattle. While dancing abroad in Europe and Israel, I found Pilates training to be an integral part of keeping my body healthy and injury-free. Upon returning to my hometown of San Diego, I decided I wanted to focus on teaching others how to develop and maintain their body’s strength, flexibility, and balance in order to lead healthier, more active lives. In addition to my Pilates teaching certifications, I am also certified to teach Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), a ball-based workout that blends Pilates matwork with ballet floor barre. As an avid anatomy and kinesiology geek, I love watching how people move in space and how their bodies adapt to any physical limitations. As a Pilates instructor, my goal is to help my client overcome these structural restrictions and gain greater range of motion by working with his or her unique anatomy to build strength and increase flexibility through proper technique in order to support a well-aligned body.
I moved from Minnesota to California in 2012 shortly after graduating from the University of Minnesota, Duluth with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. My intentions were to go to nursing school, but moving to California for my husband's job changed my plans. Once I got settled here I started taking Pilates classes with a friend and knew instantly that I loved it! I knew Pilates had to be in my life and grew such a passion for it that I decided to enroll in a teacher training program and found that teaching Pilates is more than just a job. I love making people feel good about themselves and helping them reach a potential with their body that they never knew was possible. The human body is so amazing and I'm just fascinated by every part of it! I'm so excited to be a part of this team and look forward to meeting everyone!
Hello everyone! Thank you for welcoming me into the Club Pilates family. I first took Pilates in December of 2012 and I haven't looked back since. It's my favorite workout! I grew up on a military family but was lucky enough to live most of my life in Southern California. I'm the oldest of four siblings and I have two adorable little nieces. I love to travel and have lived in New Zealand and Australia for about two years total. Marvel comics is my jam so if you wanna talk superheroes, I'm your girl! I also really love reptiles and I have a pet snake named Loki. I am currently teaching on Fridays at Club Pilates Mira Mesa for 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30. So don't be shy... come in and say hi!!!
I discovered Pilates 2 and ½ years ago at Club Pilates Mira Mesa. I began Pilates because I enjoy running and needed more core and upper body strength. I fell in love with Pilates and have been a faithful client. This past fall I entered into the teacher training program. I entered the training program to enhance my practice and to learn how I can teach others. I look forward to helping clients take their Pilates practice to the next level. I am married with one daughter and two precious Shih Tzus. I have my CPA license and work full time as an auditor for the Department of Defense.
