After many years of attempting to achieve sobriety on my own, on Feb 3rd, 2011 I became willing to do anything suggested to me. I had been sufficiently humbled by my inability to live the life I desired and was exhausted by years of half hearted attempts at recovery. Up until this point I honestly believe that I had been doing the best I could have possibly done at the time, but something was different this time. I believed that recovery was possible because I had witnessed it many times in other people. Although I was still afraid that it might not work for me, I had a newfound willingness to let go of all my preconceived notions about how recovery should be done and just began asking for help. In this state of mind the direction, love and support I needed was readily available as soon as I was honestly ready to receive it. I have not had to look back ever since. I will be forever grateful to the San Diego recovery community and hope that you can find what you're looking for here too.
