  • Hans Ewertz

    DVM

Dr. Ewertz grew up in the Northridge section of the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles. A funny coincidence of sorts is the fact that as a boy, Dr. Ewertz used to take his pets to McClave Veterinary Hospital, the very same facility Dr. Bowerman would start his veterinary career. Dr. Ewertz graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 1976. After graduating, he moved directly to San Diego and has been working at Peninsula his entire career. Dr. Ewertz enjoys surfing, gardening, and keeping up with baseball in his spare time. He is a proud husband and a proud father of two sons.

  • Monica Hambalko

    DVM

Dr. Monica Hambalko is a San Diego native who attended UCSD earning a B.S. in Biochemistry. She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, she practiced for 6 years in an AAHA hospital outside of St. Louis. Moving back to San Diego was a goal finally realized in 2009 when she joined VCA Peninsula. In her spare time, Dr. Hambalko enjoys spending time with her husband and their four Australian Shepherds, Vegas, Tucson, Penny, and Diego. They actively compete in the fun dog sports of agility, rally & obedience, and herding. In addition, Dr. Hambalko enjoys reading, traveling, and SCUBA diving.
